Hangly uses only the data required to run the service and keep the community safe. This page explains what we process, why, and how you can control it.

OAuth profile data (name, e-mail from Apple/Google), avatar, profile description, city, spoken languages and interests, created events, event participation, chat messages, reports about other users, and technical session data (device type, sign-in time).
To understand which features genuinely help, we record a limited, predefined set of events: opening the app, viewing, creating and joining an event, requesting to join, opening a chat, sending a message, sharing an invite, leaving feedback, updating a profile, viewing Premium. Each event stores only allow-listed properties (city, category, payment mode, participation type, rating), the platform, the app version and a session identifier.
We do not record message text, event descriptions, your search queries or your precise location. Events are linked to your account, kept for no longer than 400 days and deleted automatically after that. Only team members with a moderator role can access them — for product work and for handling safety reports. This data is never shared with ad networks and is not used for targeting.
On first launch the app asks once for location access — so it can open on events in your own city rather than someone else's. Declining changes nothing else: you pick a city from the list yourself, and we never ask for the permission again. You can detect your city at any later point with the "Use my location" button.
Your current position is used only to find events nearby and is not stored on our server. The coordinates of a meeting point created by a host are stored and become visible only to confirmed participants of that specific event.
The public part of your profile is available to other signed-in users of the app. Private chat, the exact meeting address and the participant list are available only to members of that event. We do not sell personal data to third parties and do not use it for ad targeting outside the app.
We rely on the following infrastructure providers: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Apple/Google (Sign in with Apple / Google, push delivery via APNs/FCM), Expo (push delivery via Expo Push Service). Each processes data under its own privacy policy and data processing agreements.
Data is stored while the account exists, or for as long as community safety and report handling require it. You can delete your account and the related personal data yourself in the app: Profile → Delete account. Deletion is irreversible and removes the profile, created events, participation, messages and avatar.
Hangly is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at the address above and we will delete it.
You may review, correct or delete your data at any time through profile settings, or by writing to the contact above. This includes the right to data portability and to withdraw consent for location processing.
If this policy changes materially, we will notify users in the app or on this page with an updated date.
